"The Crown Prince" 98x98
"It's early morning in Hwange, Zimbabwe, when we come across this large pride of lions, three lionesses with their cubs. They are sleeping soundly, full and satisfied after the night's successful hunt. We spent nearly an hour with the pride and got to study the social game in detail. One lion cub stands out for its playful, yet slightly arrogant attitude. I named him the Crown Prince. I took several clean portraits of the little guy, but fell for this image where the mother's care, warmth and authority are conveyed through her unfocused presence at the forefront of the image, where she frames the Crown Prince like a wall against the world."
