Basket from Uganda
Every basket tells a story. The story of the Ugandan women who hand-craft these baskets from raffia fibers taken from the leaves of the raffia palm. The fibers are hand-dyed and then braided into these beautiful baskets.
The intricately beautiful designs and flawless work of an experienced weaver are the result of long traditions. The Ugandan women learn their skills from the women before them who passed down the knowledge from generation to generation – from mother to daughter.
Each basket is unique, culturally and traditionally inspired, and handwoven in the Ugandan countryside. With different patterns and colors, one or more of these baskets will make a global and stylistic statement in your home. The pattern may vary slightly as they are handmade.
Can be used as a bowl or centerpiece in a beautiful wall decor. Or together with books and magazines on your coffee table.
Dimensions: Ø:40 cm
These unique baskets are made by deaf women at Uganda Deaf Action. Savannen supports fair trade and social sustainability.
