Savannen was founded by Hildegunn Tofting in 2015 with the goal of introducing the world to her favorite products made by the women of Africa, raising awareness about ethical production processes and encouraging sustainable consumption.
With its handmade African products, Savannen offers styles that preserve the origins of weaving as an art form, highlighted by the colors of Africa.
The philosophy is embodied in three main pillars: design that embodies a critical attention to craftsmanship, ethical and sustainable values in the production cycle, and a high-quality finished product that will never be mass-produced. Each product is unique and tells a story through detail, color and shape.
Savannan creates sustainable jobs, fair and meaningful work that has real social impact in the local community.
Our products are available in our online store and through our retailers. We also collaborate with interior designers, stores and galleries to create custom colors and tailor-made solutions for larger projects!

Hei! Så utrolig kjekt å komme over denne nettsiden! SÅÅ mye fint! Jeg har bodd 9 år i Afrika (Somaliland, Kenya og Etiopia) og elsker alt som de lager der nede!
Vi kom tilbake til Norge for snart fire år siden og jeg har siden da drevet en liten butikk i Sauda hvor vi bor. Det er en franchise, “Det Gule Hus”, som har flere butikker rundt omkring i Norge. Det er en type gjenbruksbutikk som har fokus på miljø og bærekraft. I min lille butikk har jeg også tatt inn litt vesker og håndkle fra Kenya og Etiopia som jeg selger. I tillegg har jeg valgt å ta inn noen andre produkter, som er bærekraftige (eks notatbøker fra pinepressOslo)!
Er det mulig å bli forhandler av deres varer også? Jeg tenker kanskje mest på veggdekoren! Jeg har selv mange sånne hjemme som jeg har kjøpt på gaten i Kenya- så det hadde vært så kjekt å kunne fylle butikken med enda mer Afrika!! Og samtidig få være med å støtte de som lager produktene deres!
