Buhera bowl-shaped basket
Traditional Buhera basket made in Zimbabwe from roots from the Buhera district. These baskets are traditionally used to store and carry grain. Each basket is handmade and there will be individual differences in design and size.
DESCRIPTION
The baskets are a beautiful reflection of Africa's ancient weaving tradition, made by the Buhera women of Zimbabwe. These baskets were traditionally used for storing food and beer, to make them waterproof, cow dung would be smeared on the outside of the baskets.
